The U is making every effort to get and stay legal where downloaded media is concerned. Beginning April 4, there’s a legal way to access entertainment at UCLA, and lots of ways to do it! UCLA has partnered with three outstanding companies to provide you with access to high-quality, legal digital content at competitive prices: CdigixCdidgix, Mindawn, and Apple's iTunes. Visit the GetLegal website for information on how to download without risk.

Cdigix is partnered with MusicNet (the same company that provides music to AOL) to offer a catalog of over two million music tracks from all four of the major labels and over 28,000 independents that you can play from your windows PC. It is a combination of an affordable subscription service  and a pay-per-download offering. They also offer Cflix, with video content aimed particularly at the college student market.

MindawnMindawn offers independent music from unsigned artists and independent-label musicians, as well as oldies and more current sounds, like hip hop-- with virtually no digital rights restrictions (DRM). Mindawn offers budding musicians at UCLA the opportunity to get exposure for their music by uploading as many albums and tracks as they want, with no wait or approval process.

iTunesApple iTunes offers a library of 2 million tracks for purchase and download to any computer or to the Apple iPod portable player. They also offer music videos and select hit television series.
