ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

For four years, the UC Teaching, Learning & technology Center (UC TLtC) has been shining a light on how the UC community uses technology for educational purposes. On its web site (www.uctltc.org), the TLtC publishes articles about the innovative ways faculty use technology to improve teaching and learning and highlights the state-of-the-art tools that campuses are using in courses and in classrooms.

TLtC logoArticles in the September edition of the web site include an update on the online Master’s program in Criminology at UC Irvine; strategies for using videoconferencing technology in graduate programs; and how UC Merced is building a technological infrastructure from the ground up. Past article topics have included audience response systems in large lecture courses, Google’s controversial scholarly initiatives], and the promise of tablet PCs.

The TLtC web site categorizes information in a variety of ways, including by campus, academic discipline, and topic (such as course management systems, hybrid instruction, and distance education). In addition to UC educational technology news, the TLtC provides information on current trends, practices, and controversies.

The site was redesigned last spring and now features an “Add A Comment” feature that allows readers to respond to news articles. A new section called "Getting Started" was created to answer some of the common questions instructors have when first attempting to use technology in their teaching.

The TLtC is a virtual center based at the Office of the President in the Academic Affairs Division. In addition to the web site, the TLtC publishes a monthly email newsletter to which everyone is invited to subscribe (http://www.uctltc.org/user/register.php).

The TLtC welcomes your feedback on the site as well as ideas for future articles. Please contact tltc@ucop.edu.
